When Shalini Bansal visited MCD School, Amar Colony on 27th, she took along an entire village of Barr Barr Pur for the children. As the name of the village goes, “barr barr” or passing of messages was what the people of the village did best. Shalini indulged the room full of 100 children into a game of Chinese whisper so that they can taste a bite of what living in Barr Barr Pur was like. Every time the message was passed, it got distorted into an assembly of weird, nonsense words, and eventually resulted in amusing the children and grabbing their attention. The story performed by Shalini thrilled the audience, who burst into laughter every time the story got farther from reality. The storytelling was topped by a creative exercise where the children drew animals out of their imagination. The session had to end but the children were so enthusiastic that they were not ready to bid goodbyes.
