What’s Brewing at the Eureka! Kids Club?
The Independent Bookshops Association of India (IBAI) recognised 7th October as Indie Bookshop Day and Eureka Bookstore celebrated it too! We shared sweets with customers and talked to them about why they visit indie bookstores. Hear them out yourself here.

The Spookiest Read-Aloud
Eureka witnessed the spookiest time with Vatsala Zutshi on 27th October at the Halloween special Read Aloud, as she read from The Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson last Friday. Her cackle and her whisper, her booming voice and crackling laughter were ably matched by the children’s creative Halloween outfits. We had paper cauldrons and wands. Witch hats and scarred faces. Ooooh! It was a spooky time indeed.

The bookshop staff too was not to be left behind. They put their best ‘face’ forward complete with scars and horns!

Read-aloud in Bangla
On 6th October, we were greeted with new faces who hadn’t attended our past few read-alouds. And we welcomed them with open arms and a bag full of stories. We began Satyajit Ray’s classic story, “Sujan Harbola” again, which had been left incomplete the last time we met. The young audience listened, laughed and engaged with so much sincerity, it all made it worthwhile! The parents were happy to see their kids interacting, having fun and absorbing the comfort books and stories bring.

Read-Aloud with Lavanya Karthik

On popular demand, we are moving our events from Friday to Saturday.

On Saturday, November 4thwe have author-illustrator Lavanya Karthik coming all the way from Mumbai, to regale you with the story of Cyrus the Whyrus – who has a lot of whys! Join Lavanya to find out why the whys must be stopped.

Obituary: Cathy Spagnoli (February 10, 1950-October 20, 2023)
In the midst of all the celebrations came some really sad news. One of the finest storytellers and mentor to many storytellers, Cathy Spagnoli passed away. Spagnoli knew how to make room in her audience’s hearts with her stories. And she passed that art on to others. Read about her life, her work, and what storytellers and publishers from around the world have to say about her here.
