January is here, and with it comes the excitement of the new year and new hopes.
As we turn the page on another year, we want to thank you for being part of our story in 2024. Here’s to a year filled with stories waiting to be discovered, pages eager to be turned, and moments shared over a great book.✨ CHECK OUT WHAT HAPPENED IN NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER 2024 🪄 Twenty four days, 3 cities 🎪 What better way to round off Diwali celebrations than being at a Children’s Literature Festival? On November 8th, 9th and 10th Bookaroo celebrated its 16th edition in Delhi at Sunder Nursery. The first day was reserved for schools, while the next two days was open for everyone. We had 90 sessions with 82 speakers who came from 14 different countries.
Moving on, the next edition of Bookaroo was on 16th & 17th November in Jaipur at the Jawahar Kala Kendra. In this fifth edition in the Pink City, there were 28 speakers from 9 countries with a total of 60 sessions.
All good things come to an end, and so did the Bookaroo editions of 2024. The last edition of the year was held in Vadodara on November 30th and December 1st. 27 speakers from 4 countries held 57 sessions in Bookaroo’s fourth edition in Vadodara!
More excitingly, your favourite festival completed 49 editions with Vadodara. Now, we look forward to celebrating the 50th edition in 2025. Stay tuned for more news on this. A SNEAK PEAK OF WHAT’S COMING NEXT! 📖 12th Jan (Sunday) – Join us for a book launch of Karma and The Snow Lion with its author Jordan Quill and illustrators Mitthu and Sonam Lama Tamang. Quill is currently completing his PhD in the History of Art at The Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London, on the textiles of northern India. He holds an MPhil in Tibetan and Himalayan Studies from the University of Oxford and is especially interested in contact between India, Tibet, and the Himalayas throughout history. Mitthu and Sonam Lama Tamang are traditional thangka painters from the Himalayas. They are Tamang, who originate from Nepal and speak a Tibeto-Burman language that shares much of its vocabulary with Tibetan. They have been painting thangkas for many generations. Don’t miss this exciting session as all three of them will be present at Eureka! Timings: 4pm to 5pm. 📖 23rd Jan (Thursday) – We have globally acclaimed author-illustrator Petr Horacek visiting Eureka from the UK. A Bookaroon himself (he participated in Bookaroo 2012 in Delhi), this is his first visit to India in 12 years. Petr has a simple formula – he starts his writing with a picture. Horacek, who grew up in Prague in the Czech Republic and lives in England, has created numerous books for children. Watch this space for more details of the session. Want to stay in the loop?
