Parag Recognitions 2024 are now open for submissions

Parag, an initiative of the Tata Trusts, was set up to support the development of and access to good quality story books for children in Indian languages. Every year, Parag opens two recognitions namely, the Parag Honour List and Big Little Book Award for the year.

Parag Honour List is a curated collection of outstanding books in English and Hindi for children and young adults. ‘An initiative of Parag’ the Tata Trusts, the Parag Honour List is published annually, and comprises noteworthy books of the year with brief information about each title. PHL 2024 is now open publishers to send in their entries. The criteria for submission is:

  • Books must be published between October 2022 and September 2023
  • Books must be original writing in English or Hindi
  • Books in age categories of early readers (0 to 6 years), young readers (7 to 13 years) and young adults (14 to 18 years) are eligible
  • Books must be published by an Indian publisher

The submissions for PHL 2024 close on October 31st, 2023.

The Big Little Book Award is a first of its kind award instituted by the Parag Initiative of Tata Trusts to recognize and honour significant contribution of authors and illustrators to children’s literature in Indian language(s). The Award is given under two categories – author and illustrator. An eminent panel selects the winners. While the author category is based on writings in regional languages, the illustrator category is language agnostic.

The Big Little Book Award 2024 will be awarded to an illustrator for significant contribution to children’s literature in India through a body of work. The award opens by inviting nominations from an empanelled group of people who are directly associated with children’s literature in various ways.

The winner illustrator will be announced in May 2024 at the award ceremony hosted by Parag.
