After receiving a great response for the YogArt session we organised in July, we hosted another session on the Sunday morning of 20th August. The aim of the event was to bring mindfulness in the children and tap into their creative potential to create shapes from aluminium wire.
Monica kickstarted the event by guiding the focus of the young audience to the calming practice of yoga. The children paid attention on their breath as they pretended to be various animals during “Animal Yoga.” They giggled joyfully while trying out challenging and enjoyable postures. After a cool-down with the ‘shavasana’ pose, the children were fascinated by the way aluminium wires moulded into a yogic pose, celebrating the practice of yoga that originated in India. With the guidance of Raie, the children drew outlines, bended the wires, fixed the corners with pliers and hammered the shapes to create their own poses of yoga on aluminium wires. It was rewarding to see the children laugh their hearts out during the tricky animal yoga postures and show great dexterity in making art with wires.
